What is ConnectAbility 101?

It is our goal that ConnectAbility participants and volunteers become part of the ConnectAbility family. We have come to learn that the relationships shared by participants, family members and volunteers are what make our organization unique and what keeps us constantly growing. We are not simply another “agency” providing services, our goal is to be a real and ongoing source of support and meaningful relationships. No one is on a caseload at ConnectAbility, you are part of our family!

ConnectAbility 101 is a brief orientation that is designed to introduce potential participants & volunteers to our organization. Originally, it was a requirement for volunteers only but we have recently expanded our invitation to include parents, caregivers and family members of children and/or adults with disabilities. It has turned out to be a great time to get to know each other and deeply understand ConnectAbility’s mission and methods.

Who should attend ConnectAbilty 101?

All volunteers are required to attend a session before volunteering at more than 2 ConnectAbility events. However, any long term volunteers who have not attended ConnectAbility 101 yet are encouraged to attend to get current information on our programs & procedures.

New families are invited to attend as part of the registration process and any existing ConnectAbility families are encouraged and welcome to attend to get a full view of our procedures and updates to our programs.

When is ConnectAbility 101?

Right now, ConnectAbility 101 sessions are offered 6 times each year. They are held on the second Tuesday evening in the odd number months of the year (January, March, May, July, September, November). The meeting is 7-8pm and homebaked goodies are served!
