2020 has been a year of many changes and unexpected challenges. As a result, ConnectAbility has moved many activities to a virtual platform and we’ve all missed out on gathering with friends (or strangers) in groups.

After careful consideration, ConnectAbility decided to offer an in-person and virtual option for our 10th annual 5k race. With safety guidelines in place, we opened registration later than usual and weren’t sure what to expect.

Race Day

Without a doubt, people were ready to run together! We had over 50 registrations in the 3 days before the race. Race morning brought a few rain showers but it didn’t dampen the spirits of our event!

We kicked off our morning with a super fun and energetic warm up from Pound Pro Cat Leopard.

We had about 100 racers join us, for many of them it was their first competative 5k. For a small handful, it was their TENTH year joining us for a race!

Once again, UNG Mens & Womens tennis teams dominated our volunteer team and brought an amazing spirit of enthusiasm to every aspect of the event. Huge thanks to Jesse Turk for marking the course and helping to coordinate our volunteers on the course.

Our Race for a Reason teams celebrated the end of the 2020 season with their only in-person race of the year. If you are interested in getting on the mailing list to join our Race for a Reason teams in 2021, please contact us and we’ll get you on the list. The season runs from early spring (March) to the ConnectAbility race in September.
